Purity Concerns

This refers to the FDA’s (Food and Drug Administration) regulated prescription drugs vs. illegal drugs (such as marijuana or designer/club drugs).  Because prescription drugs are regulated, people know what it is they are getting, as opposed to the illegal drugs, which are not regulated.  Club drugs are illegal, man-made drugs usually produced in basements or garages by drug dealers with no concerns regarding purity.  By contrast, prescription drug’s strength and consistency is always the same.  This is not the case for illegal drugs.  The effect of the drug may be different every time you take it because there is no way of knowing the dosage, how it was made, or if it was laced (mixed with another drug).  When buying illegal drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, LSD, and other drugs, you are putting your life in the hands of a drug dealer who does not care whether you live or die.  Their sole motivation is money.  This applies even if you know the person you are buying the drugs from.  You don’t know who they are getting the drugs from.  This does not mean that prescription drugs are completely safe.  Although they are regulated, when abused these drugs can also be extremely dangerous.  It is very important to read the label, follow the directions, not to exceed the instructed dosage, and never mix with other drugs.
